Who´s in it?

Kelly Reilly, Michael Fassbender
What´s the plot?

When nursery teacher Jenny (Kelly Reilly, Pride & Prejudice) escapes to the country
for a relaxing weekend away with her boyfriend, she is unaware of a romantic surprise he has in store. The location is perfect. A lake enclosed by woodlands, seemingly deserted. The scene is set for a picturesque proposal. But before the happy couple can enjoy the retreat, their peace is shattered by a gang of violent youths. What begins is a shocking and unrelenting game of cat-and-mouse, as Jenny is forced to fight back against her aggressors.

Eden Lake, nasty but good

For me the best word to describe this british horror is NASTY, very nasty. But it is very good. IF only because it is believeable and unfortunately partly because it is a reflection at the very worrying state of pockets of our society in this country today. The characters are totally believable and you can relate to them, not the behaviour of the hideous gang, and their leader in particular ,but their general manner and feeling. The film is not for the faint-hearted as there are some very gruesome and up-setting scenes. I don't understand those that have slated the film as it has been made very clear that it is violent and shocking and it certainly lives up to that. If you want the classic hollywood approach to films and it all ends happily then do not go and see Eden Lake!!!

Realistic British Horror

This film is extremely good on many levels, disturbing on many others.

The most scary and depressing part of this film is that it so easily could be a true story; A young couple asking a group of unreasonable and rude kids to be a bit more considerate, end up running for their lives. We have seen this in the newspapers – people getting kicked to death for doing such a thing.

As with most films of this genre, there are a couple of moments when you say ‘I wouldn’t have done that’ – but based on the situation this couple find themselves in – who knows how you would react.

It’s unlike the Hollywood horrors where the chased go into dark basements or their torches run out of batteries, etc etc. There are no ‘evil masters’ ‘zombies’ ‘diseases’ ‘sick psychotic mental patients’ – just out of control kids. Which is what makes this film so good - it’s very realistic.

There are parts of the film which are very nasty, but not as gory as a film like, maybe ‘Saw’. Saying that, there are moments where you turn your head away as it’s not nice to watch.

The kids in this film are very realistic of some of the kids of today, where due to perhaps the actions of one very bad apple in the group things gets out of hand very quickly to an extreme level.

I do recommend - However you may come away thinking about emigrating abroad.

Shocking!!!!!!!!

I felt the need to agree with Rita2.
This is one shocking movie.
I love all kinds of movies and go most weeks, but have never walked out of a movie and thought WHY of WHY has this been created.......no wonder we live in a sick old world.

Watch at your own risk!!!!!
